The best way to understand a bay is to get out on it.
In the Kayaking program, students paddle out onto Tillamook Bay or one of the surrounding waterways and learn its natural history from the water. Options include Tillamook Bay, Netarts Bay, Nehalem Bay, Hoquarton Slough, and Lake Lytle, depending on the group and the day.
The program runs with low winds and light rain, which on the Oregon Coast means it runs most of the year. Plan for around two to three hours on the water. It works well across a wide range of ages and is one of the more memorable ways to spend a field trip day on the Tillamook Coast.
