Tillamook Bay is full of invertebrates, and most of them go unnoticed. This program is a broad, hands-on introduction to that world.
Students work through the tidepool tanks to identify and explore multiple invertebrate groups, learning their life histories and how each one fits into the ecosystem of one of the most productive estuaries on the Pacific Coast.
The program includes plankton exploration, a pile worm dissection, and the construction of food chains and food webs that make the connections between species visible and concrete.
A good starting point for groups new to marine science, and rich enough for groups that are not. Available any time of year.
